THE VOICE OF CRITICAL

Pictures by Gianpiero Actis provide inspiration to writers such as myself: the seascapes, woods and city scenes inspire poetry and poetic prose. In fact, his picture of a street lamp belonging to a past era triggered in me a poem which covered past and present in the life of one couple.
While I was being inspired by his paintings, he meantime had illustrated one of my poems... the subject of AUTUMN produced a marvellous range of Arabic style tiles and friezies by the painter.
Who knows who will inspire who next ?
What I’d like to say to Gianpiero Actis is that we will both continue painting and writing with the hope that more cross fertilisations can take place.

GIANPERO ACTIS: TRA REALTA’ ED ASTRAZIONE
Gianpiero Actis è da molti anni che dipinge. Forse da sempre. Da quando era al liceo ed il suo professore History of Art, Richard Bean, known and whimsical painter from Turin, sent her love (I was going to say the virus) for this form of expression that comes from the soul and, like poetry and music, is cultivated, even more than for others, for themselves. That 's what it has always done Gianpiero Actis, though busy with work on another frontier, that of science, to be a doctor. The painter has always come after, in the secrecy of another study, perhaps in memory of the master. As if to chase the dream to match reality and abstraction, inner resonance and geometric rhythms, fragments of reality with the anomalies of existence, the joy of explosive colors with a pristine and orderly world, seen in idealized landscapes beautifully.
generative element, in fact, the representation has never an end in itself. It is often an excuse to come to the composition of forms, tailored for evoking moods or the revelation of a hidden inner world.
The transition from meaning to meaning becomes, therefore, subtle style, which is the unmistakable figure of this painter from Turin, who love duet, as we shall see, with poetry and music. An applicant
figurative element, for example, the work of Actis, is the tree. Many of his works take their name and meaning from this What time is "The Tree of color," an emblematic oil in 1972, now "falling of the leaves" (acrylic, 2006) or "Winter" (acrylic, 2006) and again, the circle of the seasons and memories assigned to this figurative element, "Springtime" (acrylic, 2006). The tree, in these works is the central figure of the composition, almost an archetype Freud tied to a yearning, however, that tree is not. Actis trees, in fact, do not bring "the nidietti spring." They have no leaves. But they have the ability to generate colors, bundles of emotions or woven-leaf that the wind carries away like memories of a time gone by. And that is This, perhaps, that so evocative paintings have been inspired poets, but here is the case with poets say, as Aeronwy Thomas, daughter of one of the greatest English poets of the twentieth century, Dylan Thomas, a friend of Actis and his family frequented by ancient , which often equates the themes of his poetry with those of his paintings in Turin. Each of these forms of expression, however, follows his way, and rightly so. And where Aeronwy Thomas lingers on storytelling, ie the dynamic themes that are carry out his poetic narrative, Actis takes the shortcut of synthesis. For him, the picture is a painted surface with internal rules that knows how to master it with great ability to reach a certain breathing space from the outside often realistic or imitative. The beams of light, for example, that emanate from such works as "The lamp" or "The spire, two acrylic of 2006, one intuits that go far beyond the limits of the frame, making sense to the user, beyond the nostalgia for a time and a place that had a sense of freedom and the infinite which has as its goal the overcoming of this framework.
In this sense, much of the work is an invention of Actis abstract, even when there is an element generator that wants to keep us in some way related to reality. And on this front is that its themes lend themselves to trigger interference with the arts and the arts, as often happens in meetings organized by the "Picture & Poetry," an artistic and literary movement led by Lidia Chiarelli and opened a few years ago turin, in which painting, poetry and music come together with results of extraordinary effectiveness.

Gianpiero Actis has a direct relationship with science and the phenomenology of vision in that eye specialist and creator of ' images, works to see. In the paintings of Gianpiero Actis, colors, lines, shapes and perspectives are pieced together in intricate visual puzzles. His work joins elements of geometric abstraction, Which Is traditionally devoid of imagery, reminiscent of Mondrian, with the dreamlike surrealist pictorial elements of de Chirico and Magritte.
But, unlike Mondrian, who did not venture past pure shape and primary colors, and unlike the surrealists, whose dreams can fracture into discordant or disturbing images, in the paintings of Gianpiero Actis, there is a prismatic break into an altered landscape—a landscape that is not dark or troubled but bright and full of hope.
In his work, symbols, some ancient, some universal, some so mysterious they are known only to him, lead the viewer to open doors, sometimes actual doors, to both the landscape of the painting and the landscape of the mind. He invites us to enter his own, personal world, and it is an uplifting universe of pure color and light.

works Gianpiero Actis, ophthalmologist with a strong artistic interest, are made with mixed media and some tending to formal experimentation, like butterflies, with references naive framework in which two paintings are overlaid to produce a second floor on which to living creatures, who free themselves from the background, but not detached, but even amalgamating.
Actis is a founding member of the Movement "Picture & Poetry" for interaction and integration of the arts, his creations are in fact the germ in their poems, and sometimes even in dreams.

In instructions to the painters and poets, drawn from the poetry of Lawrence Ferlinghetti, a great eye stands out among a profusion of soft colored shapes referring to the eyes light-bearers of the poem.
